Our ambition is to create a place that is welcoming to all – to live, work, enjoy leisure time and build on Bristol’s strengths as a world-class city.
B
ristol Temple Quarter is one of the largest urban regeneration projects in the UK. It covers around 100 hectares of land in the centre of Bristol, with the historic Temple Meads station at its core. Te 25-year ambition for the project is to deliver 22,000
jobs, provide 4,000 new homes, regenerate the area and create a new, superbly connected gateway to the city and the South West region. “It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity
to shape a new city quarter at the heart of Bristol,” says Mayor Marvin Rees. “Te Temple Quarter is already a flourishing area with great connectivity and potential to develop. Our ambition is to create a place that is welcoming to all – to live, work, enjoy leisure time and build on Bristol’s strengths as a world-class city.”
Business and innovation Te presence of the enterprise hub, Engine Shed, has helped the Temple Quarter become a launch pad for new businesses, supporting more than 180 high tech start- ups to date, across a range of industries including semiconductors, telecoms, automotive, biotech, and security.
In 2017, the University of Bristol confirmed it would be investing £300m in the Temple Quarter to build a brand new innovative campus. Te development will put the university at the forefront of digital and business research, skills and innovation, transforming the derelict sorting office site next to Temple Meads into a green, open campus and new student village.
