SUMMER 2018 • SPOTLIGHT• 15

Green energy is the missing link for electric cars. For an electric vehicle to really run emissions ‘free’, it has to be powered by green energy.

when there were almost no electric vehicles on the road, but we wanted to kick-start the revolution. Now there are around 40 models to choose from, falling prices and a growing number of drivers. Having established the network on

E

motorways where it was needed most, we are now moving into the major towns and cities on petrol station forecourts. Te day is coming where charging an electric vehicle will be no different to what we’ve come to expect – just popping to a forecourt to refuel. Te network was launched by

Ecotricity in 2011 and has now powered almost 50 million miles of emission- free electric driving, all supplied by energy from the wind and the sun. We now have around 300 electricity

pumps, covering the motorway network and beyond – enabling electric vehicle drivers who use the Electric Highway app to travel the length and breadth of Britain, completely emissions free. During 2018, the Electric Highway

will be expanding into London, with 30 new electricity pumps set to be installed at Motor Fuel Group’s (MFG) Shell, BP and Texaco branded service stations.

Ecotricity will become the largest rapid charging provider in the capital, with electricity pumps placed at key commuter points across London to help bring the benefits of emission free electric driving to some of the country’s busiest roads.

charge point manufacturer Rolec EV to launch the Fully Charged Bundle. Tis enables EV drivers to power their car by the wind and the sun, both at home and on the road, by removing the cost barriers of charging at home, and by making charging cheaper and easier on the road. Our aim is to make electric vehicle

charging at home and on the road more simple, joined up and cost effective for existing and new EV drivers. In this way, we hope to encourage more people to go electric on the road. Tere are three elements to the

Fully Charged bundle: Green Electricity + EV, the cheapest EV home energy tariff on the market; half price use of the Electric Highway; and an exclusive Ecotricity discount on a Rolec home charger. Tis combination could save a customer £350 in their first year.

cotricity has been driving Britain’s electric vehicle revolution for almost two decades. We began building the Electric Highway
