Five Students Awarded Scholarships by Betty Peters

Each year the Commission on Education has the privilege of choosing recipients for the Christian Ministry Scholarships. We are thankful to be able to award the 2019 scholarships to five young people from across our Fellowship. Please remember these students (and all students) in your prayers throughout the coming year that God may bless their efforts to further their Christian education for future kingdom ministry.

Christian Ministry Scholarship Recipients (Undergraduates)

Kaitlyn Froese (EMB Church, Grunthal, Man.) will be a third year student at Millar College of the Bible (Pambrun, SK), majoring in Biblical Studies. She seeks a solid foundation to go in the community and the world. Currently she serves on the worship team and wherever needed in her church. Tis summer she worked for a fishing lodge and with young people at church. Her pastor says “Kaitlyn is out-going, yet gentle, with a desire to help others.”

Jordan Funk (Stuartburn Gospel Chapel, Stuartburn, MB) enters as a freshman at Millar College of the Bible with a major in Biblical Studies. He hopes to deepen his compre- hension of the Bible. At his church, he helps lead services, plays instruments and ushers. He worked at a local dairy barn to earn money for school. “Jordan enjoys discussing the Bible and theology and is looked up to by the younger youth in the church.”

Susanna Goossen (Crosspoint Bible Church, Omaha, NE) plans to be a freshman at Calvary University (Kansas City, MO), majoring in Biblical Studies and minoring in Biblical Counseling. She seeks enrichment in Bible knowledge and equipping for the Lord’s work. “She is energetic and friendly and has leadership qualities,” as she serves in children’s club and worship team ministries at her church. She also worked a restaurant this summer and took CLEP tests to be ready for college.

Eryn Mcdonald (Dalmeny Bible Church, Dalmeny, SK) will attend Millar College of the Bible as a freshman and major

in Biblical Studies. Her goal is to learn about God through His Word and use her giſts to further His kingdom. She was an assistant cook at Redberry Bible Camp this summer and serves as a youth leader, worship team member, and wherever needed at her church. “She is a strong communicator in word and the arts and has leadership qualities,” says her pastor.

Katrina Hiebner (Faith EBC, Henderson, NE) was selected, but is now planning to do missions work rather than attend college in 2019-2020. Terefore the scholarship will go to the alternate, Eryn Mcdonald.

Continuing Education Recipient (Graduate Student)

Jonathan Klassen (Vita Bible Church, Vita, MB) is seeking a Master of Divinity degree, with a minor in Pastoral Coun- seling at Providence Teological Seminary (Otterburne, MB). His goal is to become a full-time pastor. He volunteers as the youth pastor at Vita and manages the Vita Youth Cen- ter. His pastor writes, “He is giſted in reaching out to youth. He is thoughtful and articulate.”

FEBC Scholarship Fund For 50 years the Fellowship has offered scholarships to

students preparing for Christian ministry and to missionaries and pastors engaged in continuing education. In 1984, the schol- arship fund received a bequest of CA$67,000 from the Sarah Willems estate. Other bequests and convention offerings have increased the Scholarship Trust Fund to almost $173,000. Only the income on this fund is used for scholarships. Since 1969, approximately $269,500 has been awarded to students. Over 200 students and Christian workers have received scholarships since 1991. Recent low interest rates have limited the number of schol- arships — this year only five scholarships could be offered.

Te Fellowship continues to welcome contributions and

estate giſts to this fund. You can help train the next generation of pastors and global workers.
