Tweaking the Way We Function

At Connect19, the International Board of Di- rectors unveiled some planned changes to the organizational structure of the FEBC. Tese changes are intended to more effectively lever- age our strengths and manage our resources.

Tese changes can be viewed on the

accompanying organizational charts. Here is a brief summary of those changes:

• Te Commission on Outreach has been discontinued. Te CoO was established to support the 20/20 Vision. Over time membership on this commission had dwindled, and it has been determined that the vital functions of this team can be handled by FEBC office staff.

• As the Doctrinal Council has not been formed (and was removed from the Constitution this year), the Commission on Churches and the Directors have been handling doctrinal issues. Tis arrange- ment will continue for the foreseeable future. However, it has been a lot to ask of the CoC to handle doctrine/theology, ordinations and licensing, and pastoral care. In addition to the removal of the Doctrinal Council, the following com- missions will be adjusted:

• A new commission is being established — the Commission on Pastoral Care. Tis commission will focus on providing care for pastors and their wives. Subse- quently, the CoC will be able to devote more time to doctrinal/theological issues as well as licensing and ordination.

• Meanwhile, the Commission on Wom- en’s Ministries has shiſted focus over the years. Tey have found that assisting churches with their individual ministries has not been very helpful. However, they have discovered that the role of support- ing and encouraging pastors’ wives is very effective and beneficial. So, the CoWM will be officially discontinued, but the members of the CoWM will join the new Commission on Pastoral Care — con- tinuing to offer care to pastors’ wives.
