Fellowship Views


Tis summer the Fellowship holds its 125th Annual Meeting. However, the Fellowship is 130 years old (begun in 1889). During some years of World War I and II, travel was not possible, so no convention was held. But whenever possible, churches came together. For the 90th anniversary of the Fellowship (1979), O. J. Wall went through early annual reports of the Fellowship (many written in German) and compiled a summary of each meeting. No convention was held in 1918. But in 1919, delegates came together at Langham, Sask., from as far away as Dallas, Ore., Chicago, Ill., and Garden City, Kan! Many delegates traveled several days by train.


Ten as now, churches were usually referred to by their city name rather than by their corporate name. Tis made sense when


many churches had similar names like Bruderthaler Church and Ebenezer Church. Te name of the Fellowship had just been changed to Defenseless Mennonite Brethren in Christ of North America. Tat name was changed in 1937 to Evangelical Mennonite Breth- ren, and again in 1988 to Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches.

1919, June 8-13 at the North Church, Langham, Sask. Pentecost Sunday, home and foreign missions program and in evening the topic “The Holy Spirit” by *B. 0. Kroeker, and *D. A. Regier spoke on the bride of the lamb. Wednesday *H. S. Rempel spoke of Israel’s stand on the coming of Christ. C. N. Hiebert spoke on Christ had a work to do and so have we, to seek the lost.




It was agreed to build a new mission house in Chicago, as funds come in. It was accepted to


 Chicago $60.00 per month, and Maria Warkentin is also accepted for city missions. Home missions 
