grunthalemb.com In April our congregation was blessed
by three special events: the baptism and receiving of members, a weekend seminar on “Focus on Israel 101” (see separate coverage on page ##) and by hosting the annual Fisher Bay Bible Camp fund raising banquet. Approximately 160 peo- ple attended. Tis past winter, the camp experienced major water damage, and the funds raised helped cover the repair costs.
Womens’ Ministries had a weekly
Bible study going through Romans, led by Beth Fast. We also had a fun evening learning to do a canvas painting. It was our turn to serve in the Moms & Tots program at Menno Home. As mothers visited residents, preschoolers played with toys and intacted with residents. Later that month we also presented a snack to residents, followed by a short program of music and Scripture reading, and then more visiting. At our Spring Brunch, Beth Fast shared her testimony and challenged us to see God in all of life’s situations.
A noon potluck on the last Sunday
of April presented an opportunity to fi- nancially assist a couple from Madagascar. While visiting family here, one person had to be hospitalized for a major health issue. Tis resulted in major hospital bills.
On Mother’s Day, the preschool class
honored all mothers by providing a short video of their special wishes for mothers. Mothers and grandmothers received a fresh carnation.
Te missions committee planned a
pizza supper followed by a report from a couple from Myanmar. Te couple described their home province, the poverty and lack of good infrastructure, and how the local churches seek to share the Gospel. Kep is a seminary grad from Providence and is currently employed here to raise his own funds for ministry. He returns possibly within one year. His wife Parku is on pastoral staff at their church in Myanmar and was able to visit Kep in Canada for two months, but needed to return to their two sons.
Sunday School teachers for this past
season were recognized and honored at a noon pot-luck.

with a new administrative assistant, Jacenta Khachatourian. We are so pleased to have Jacenta and her family join us here and thank the Lord for his provision. Our missionary couple Vance and Wendy Sutherland arrived safely in Aruba to continue their work with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Canada. Tis month was the wrap-up of our mens and ladies ministries for the summer. Te men invited another church who meets in our building to join them for a breakfast and work bee. It was an amazing time of fellowship and service to the church and to one another. Te ladies hosted a much anticipated vintage fashion show and tea. Youth are looking forward to serving with the Gleaners (
okanagangleaners.com) to process local produce into soup servings that are donated to relief organizations around the world. We are looking for more ways to partner with local organiza- tions such as the food bank to help those in our own community.
Tis summer several students went
to Precept Bible Camp in Tennessee. Tis year the focus will be a study in Judges. Students who participate in these camps learn inductive Bible study skills. Tey learn to study God’s word deeply by them- selves so that they may, in turn, teach others. Other students went to various places for summer ministries. McKyleigh Bartel was a counselor at IdRaHaJe Christian Camp in Baily, Colo., for nine weeks. Kellen Bartel went to Jacksonville, Fla., with the Navigators’ Jax STP to learn and practice evangelism for eight weeks. Tamra Clawson served with the National Leadership Team for Operation Christmas Child (OCC) in Nambia. She learned what takes place on “the other side of the shoebox.” During her nine days with Samaritan’s Purse, she participated five shoebox distribution events. She also attended assisted in a church with the twelve-week discipleship program called “Te Greatest Journey.” In this program teens not only distribute boxes, but they also share the gospel.
