A message from the Board EDITOR’S NOTE

And before you know it the year is at an end! And what a fascinating 2015 it has been.

For UK Plc we saw a surprise General Election which gave us a clear-cut result that few had expected. Whatever the outcome, the year has also seen an improvement in terms of the economy although some industries have shown that nothing should be taken for granted.

That of course applies to the welding industry, although a glance through these pages across the year shows that innovation and forward thinking has been very much alive. Here at Welding World itself we have had a busy year and I hope to have made a

difference in my first full year as editor. Along with the formality of a complete redesign, we have also seen the emergence of a superb app for Welding World along with a great social media feed that keeps us close at hand 24/7. Perhaps of greatest significance has been the launch of the Welding World Awards which we are all looking forward to coming to fruition with our ceremony during MACH next year. And of course that brings us to next year. MACH is clearly a highlight along with the awards (make sure you book your tables now!) but for every individual AWD member there will also be separate but each highly significant goals for the coming 12 months. Before then of course there is the festive period. It has been a 2015 of hard work and generally good results. There can be little harm in sitting back and raising a glass to toasting all that success - just as this year seems to have flown by, 2016 and the hurly-burly of business will be back with us soon enough.
