STRAIGHTFORWARD WELDING OF
PIPES AND CONTAINERS
LORCH CONTINUES TO EXPAND THEIR AUTOMATION PORTFOLIO WITH THE NEW ROUNDSEAM TOPSLIDER
At Schweisstec 2015, Lorch has shown a new technological highlight which will become the new gem in their range of Lorch Automation Solutions (LAS) and for which mass production will start in 2016: a recently developed welding machine for longitudinal and round seams on pipes and containers which is also capable of spiral welding. The brand new Roundseam Topslider churns out weld seams at rapid speeds and with utmost precision, cutting welding time in half while maintaining consistent weld seam quality of the highest order. What is more, the easy-to- grasp menu structure including clear-text display guarantee quick and easy operation, while the design of the machine makes it possible for the operator to switch between round, longitudinal and spiral welding in a few easy steps. These attributes make the Topslider the ideal welding solution both for containers, machine parts, axles, rollers, and heat exchangers and for pipe-flange connections. Utilising the power of automation, the Topslider also offers tremendous speed and efficiency advantages for the manufacturing process when compared to conventional manual solutions.
This machine for longitudinal and round weld seams is also the solution of choice when it comes to complex welding tasks: The machine allows the welder to weld workpieces with a diameter of up to 1,500 millimetres without a problem thanks to its wide range of rotational speeds. Thanks to a moveable, pneumatic tailstock with

Synchro feed, the machine also makes it a breeze to weld components ranging in length up to 6,500 millimetres with superior reliability and reproductibility. Other key advantages of the machine are its sturdy steel frame which allows for the precise positioning of torch and tailstock and a slew of software options that offer the user a wide range of possible applications. The optional double torch positioning feature also allows for TIG root welding and MIG/MAG capping layer welding in a single operation. In an effort to give companies the best possible support in optimising their welding processes, Lorch set up a dedicated automation technology
division and concentrated their know- how in their Lorch Automation Solutions, or for short, LAS. Especially mid-size companies have many areas where automated welding solutions can provide for a significant boost in efficiency. Better still, benefitting from such heightened efficiency does not always require the company to opt for a large-scale robot solution. Smart automation solutions, such as welding tractors or a new Topslider, save businesses a great amount of time and cost, streamline their production and allow them to tap new potentials for growth. l
