What have you discovered about yourself that is new or helpful to your growth? Adaptability!

Jan Smith Vale UMC Oakton, VA

That it is very hard to be a Christian in isolation. I could continue the solitary disciplines well (perhaps even better) and it was certainly possible to continue to be in mission in certain ways. But without corporate worship it all felt kind of dead. God seemed far away. Now that we are back together, although with new formats and customs, I begin to feel the fire again.

Pamela Abbey

Walnut Creek UMC Walnut Creek, CA

Continue to be genuine and humble with the ways in which God has gifted me.

How to be flexible and go with the flow. It is more about relationship and staying connected.

Douglas Grove-DeJarnett Munsey Memorial UMC Johnson City, TN

A greater opportunity to be creative in worship.

William Moore

That I need to stay true to myself and my artistic integrity. That will shine through and bind everything together.

Michael Dougherty Hyde Park UMC Tampa, FL

That if I love and care about our youth, they can connect and relate to me, not as a 67-year-old grandma, but as a mentor and guide who actually understands them.

Carla Hale

Stroud UMC Stroud, OK

Never let a good crisis go to waste. As much as we knew that we needed to live stream our services, it took a pandemic to move us in the right direction.

Karen Booth

Lake Harbor UMC Norton Shores, MI

I have discovered, through disappointments and struggles, a resilience which carries me through and comes no doubt from the God who sustains me.

Kathryn Johnson St. Stephen UMC Mesquite, TX

What will you carry into a post-pandemic ministry with worship that is new to you?

Overall I think we need to be more intentional about offering worship in as many different ways as are practical for our setting.

Carla Hale “

Stroud UMC Stroud, OK

That even though I’m older, I can still learn new things, especially technology. I was pretty computer literate to begin with and that served me well, but I have never done recording and uploading video and audio. It was a challenge but I was able to do it, so I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Lauri Nair Shenendehowa UMC, Clifton Park, NY

Hybrid worship is here to stay.

Eileen Johnson El Sobrante UMC El Sobrante, CA

Awareness of what is being seen on camera and thus streamed. Our sound techs have done a better job of hitting marks and being prepared since we have paid attention to streaming. We’ve gone back to review services, we’d only talked through review on occasion in the pre-COVID past.

Todd Wilson

Germantown UMC Germantown, TN

We are always making small changes in how we do things from one series to the next.

Karen Booth

Lake Harbor UMC Norton Shores, MI
