CANNED COCKTAILS GO ORGANIC!
A new kind of low-calorie canned cocktail is about to hit UK store shelves this summer. We know, yet another drink in a can may not sound very exciting, but we think you’ll want to check this one out. It’s called Miami Cocktail Organic Spritz, and (you guessed it) it comes to us from Miami, Florida.
Aside from the vibrant, pastel colored packaging (clearly reminiscent of the artsy, bohemian Wynwood neighborhood that Miami Cocktail Company calls home), what really sets these drinks apart is the fact that they are fully organic. “We wanted to create a line of proper cocktails that we would be proud to serve our loved ones and closest friends” says Miami Cocktail Company Co-Founder Ross Graham. “For us, that means using only the highest quality organic ingredients and being totally transparent about what is in our products.”
Miami Cocktail Organic Spritz is comprised of 5 craft cocktails (not “fl avours” – more on that in a moment) – Mimosa, Bellini, Sangria, Margarita, and Paloma. Each one is totally unique, but they’re all light, refreshing, and perfect for summer outings or at-home consumption. The team at Miami Cocktail Company has also added subtle twists to each of the cocktails. The Margarita Spritz is enhanced with a hint of organic elderfl ower and ginger juice, which adds a bright aromatic note and just a hint of spice. The Rosé Sangria Spritz gives the traditional sangria a tropical touch with a splash of organic pineapple juice.
“We make cocktails, not concoctions” Graham is adamant to point out. One might be forgiven for overlooking this distinction at fi rst, but in fact, it matters. Organic Spritz is made with real ingredients, and contains none of the artifi cial fl avors, colors, and sweeteners commonly found in other ready- to-drink (RTD) beverages – particularly not the ones many of us grew up
drinking. RTDs have indeed come a long way from what they once were. For proof, one need look no further than the remarkable proliferation of hard seltzers over the past 1-2 years. “What sets us apart from the seltzers is that we’re committed to crafting actual cocktails. If you taste peach in our Bellini, it’s because we’re using actual organic peach juice,” Graham adds. “Our taste is a refl ection of the ingredients we use.”
With all of that fresh juice, you might not think these cocktails have much to off er in the health and wellness department; but thankfully, you’d be wrong! Many of the hard seltzers push their lower calorie content with an assortment of “fl avours”. They often sacrifi ce taste to achieve a lower caloric hit. In contrast, each Organic Spritz contains only 110 calories per can - with no added sugar. At 4% ABV, gluten free and vegan friendly, Organic Spritz delivers lower calories without sacrifi cing what matters most - taste. “When you start with the best ingredients, all you have to do is let them speak for themselves,” Graham says. We couldn’t agree more!
Miami Cocktail Organic Spritz will be available in over 170 Waitrose locations later this summer. For more information about the brand and where to fi nd it, head over to
