PARTNER CONTENT FOR BADEN-BADEN SPA TOWN

Baden-Baden spa town BADEN-BADEN, GERMANY

‘The Belle Époque meets the age of Instagram’ is how The New York Times recently described Baden-Baden — and it’s true that the town’s rich history blends seamlessly with a modern lifestyle. It’s a haven for wellness and relaxation, but also a great destination for culture lovers and gastronomes

The town’s history and its bathing tradition date back to its founding by the Romans, who discovered the mineral springs here 2,000 years ago and built the first thermal baths in the town. For centuries, royal guests travelled to Europe’s

summer capital to improve their health in the healing waters of Baden-Baden. Nowadays, the city’s two thermal baths offer exclusive wellness pleasure. The modern Caracalla Spa, with more than 43,000sq ft of bathing and wellness space, creates an exceptional ambiance for soothing relaxation in thermal water. The historic Friedrichsbad, looking back on more than 140 years of bathing history, combines traditional Roman bathing culture with the habits of Irish hot-air bathing. The circuit of 17 stations with changing temperatures has a regenerative effect on body and soul. Baden-Baden is home to a variety of spa and wellness hotels, many of which offer exquisite treatments. The jewel among the spas in Baden-Baden is the Villa Stéphanie, part of the five-star superior Brenners Park-Hotel

& Spa. The luxury spa, which opened in 2015, is a mansion solely devoted to the individual’s spa experience. A holistic approach focusing on beauty, detox and nutrition, as well as emotional balance and medical care is what makes the Villa Stéphanie special. The Radisson Blu Badischer Hof Hotel has a

wellness facility with thermal water swimming pools. Guests at the Heliopark Bad Hotel zum Hirsch, meanwhile, find direct access to the curative water in some of the rooms and suites. Apart from its extraordinary wellness

experiences, Baden-Baden is also an oasis for arts and culture. The Festival Hall Baden-Baden is Europe’s second-largest opera and concert hall, and hosts international opera, ballet and concerts. Known for its great acoustics, the concert hall presents world-renowned artists, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Ballet, and the violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter from September until July every year.

In addition to the Festival Hall Baden-Baden,

the town is home to several museums that are well worth a visit. The Museum Frieder Burda, built by New York star architect Richard Meier, has a private art collection that includes selected masterpieces and hosts numerous exhibitions. The building itself is also a must-see for guests who have a particular interest in art and architecture. Another highlight in Baden-Baden is the

Fabergé Museum. It’s the first museum in the world dedicated to the life’s work of Carl Peter Fabergé. More than 700 masterpieces are displayed in the museum and include famous imperial Easter eggs made for the Russian royal family, luxurious pieces of jewellery and other selected creations of the master jeweller. Shopping enthusiasts will discover numerous

high-end boutiques in the picturesque streets and the small roads of the neo-baroque old town of Baden-Baden. Those looking for luxury-brand products, international labels and

individual gifts, jewellery and presents won’t be disappointed by the offering in Baden-Baden. For food lovers, the town has a vast selection

of options to choose from. Its restaurant scene ranges from Michelin-starred restaurants to cosy little taverns, offering both international and traditional Badian cuisine. Just under four miles outside the city centre, gourmets and aficionados of fine wines can find a variety of excellent restaurants and wineries in Baden- Baden’s wine region, the Rebland. The Baden- Baden Rebland is Germany’s second-largest Riesling growing district. Additionally, the region hosts one of

Germany’s best golfing areas: the golf region Baden-Alsace. On several championship golf courses in and around Baden-Baden, golf enthusiasts can indulge themselves in hours of golfing pleasure. An exciting time on the green, surrounded by the charming landscape and beauty of the region, is guaranteed. Baden- Baden’s location at the foothills of the Black Forest, invites guests to explore the area.

Starting in Baden-Baden, the Black Forest Scenic Route (Schwarzwaldhochstraße) leads to various tourist attractions: many historic sights and fascinating natural spectacles await guests along the road, where magnificent views of the Rhine valley and the Vosges open up. For an evening filled with excitement, the

Casino Baden-Baden is the perfect location. Situated in the Kurhaus, it’s Germany’s oldest casino and, according to German actress and singer Marlene Dietrich, “The most beautiful casino in the world”. It offers guests the chance to dive into the world of roulette, blackjack and poker in a unique ambience of arcades and magnificent staterooms. Baden-Baden — so much more than just an

elegant German spa town — offers a variety of wellness, cultural and culinary highlights in a spectacular natural setting on the outskirts of the Black Forest. Best of all, almost everything is within walking distance, so having a car isn’t a necessity while exploring all that Baden-Baden has to offer.

Don’t miss Enjoying the sunset, while sipping a cocktail and relaxing at the outdoor pool on the rooftop of the Roomers Hotel Baden-Baden
