CoolRooms Palacio De Luces ASTURIAS, SPAIN
Nestled between the Cantabrian Sea and the Picos de Europa, this meticulously restored 16th-century palace sits within three acres of gardens, just over a mile from Lastres, recognised as one of Spain’s most beautiful villages. Built in 1580 by Juan Victorero, a nobleman who
sailed to the Americas and returned to Asturias with architectural and cultural influences, the palace reflects the typical style of its time. It offers 44 rooms and suites across the historic palace and a contemporary annex, and interiors combine classic elegance with modern comfort. Guests booking directly enjoy complimentary spa access. The culinary heart of the hotel is Tella, led
by award-winning chef Pachi Ruiz, whose ‘gastronomía de paisaje’ philosophy celebrates Asturian produce from the sea and mountains. The restaurant has received much recognition, and its panoramic views of the Sierra del Sueve, the Picos de Europa and the Cantabrian Sea enhance every meal. Guests can also enjoy lighter fare at the Palmera Gastro Bar or relax by the fireplace in La Canela.
Service is at the heart of Palacio de Luces and
a highly trained team offers an experience that’s been recognised with a Michelin Key and an award for Best Getaway Hotel in Spain and Portugal. The concierge designs personalised stays and experiences, from guided hikes and visits to anchovy canneries and cheese dairies to joining rederas (net-makers) or heading out to sea with Carlos, a seasoned fisherman, to catch seafood to cook back at the palace later. Guests can also explore the beach, visit Luces lighthouse or take part in cultural excursions. Wellness and relaxation are central to the hotel
experience, with an indoor heated pool, contrast showers, sauna, hammam, thermal loungers, solarium, gym and massage cabins using Alqvimia natural cosmetics. The surrounding area invites exploration, from coastal cycling and surfing to fishing and guided botanical walks in the gardens. Reopened in 2022 after extensive restoration,
Palacio de Luces blends heritage and modernity, offering an oasis of tranquillity where the scent of wild herbs meets the sound of the sea.
