Within the Village ROUNDSTONE, IRELAND
Located in the picture-perfect coastal village of Roundstone in County Galway, Within the Village is a unique concept in luxury Irish lodgings and slow travel. Comprising a collection of five interconnecting luxury cottages and townhouses, the understated terrace of sage-green buildings on the village’s main street gives little away. Yet behind the doors lies warm hospitality, a coastal garden and magical views. Inspired by the rugged Connemara landscape, the houses and gardens have been brought to life by the combined talents of some of Ireland’s most celebrated designers, craftspeople and artists. Design-savvy guests will recognise works by
figures such as Dorothy Cross, The Tweed Project, Joe Hogan, Cliodhna Prendergast and award- winning landscape gardener Mark Grehan. Stays are enhanced by thoughtful complimentary touches, including treats from Burren Perfumery, Cloon Keen candles and locally baked goods delivered to guests’ doors every day. Loosely based on the Italian ‘albergo diffuso’ (‘scattered hotel’) model of hospitality, the concept
brings together contemporary yet authentic design with a central host who welcomes guests at a reception hub in the middle of the village. The aim is to encourage visitors to slow down, stay longer and immerse themselves in the rhythms of Western Irish life. Guests are encouraged to explore and support
the local cafes, restaurants, shops and traditional pubs, helping to spread the benefits of tourism throughout the community. Each house is fully equipped with modern kitchens and spacious living areas, providing a luxurious self-catering experience with the option of additional services. Available individually or collectively for short- term stays, the cottages and townhouses can accommodate between two and 28 guests — ideal for individuals, families and groups of friends. The entire space is also available for exclusive
hire, making it a perfect venue for private specialist groups, corporate events and intimate family celebrations. Transport, private catering and tailored experiences can be arranged for those hiring the space exclusively.
DON’T MISS Look out for works of art from Dorothy Cross, The Tweed Project, Joe Hogan and award-winning landscape gardener Mark Grehan
