hotel reviews ZOETRY MONTEGO BAY JAMAICA
Zoetry is an adult-only boutique hotel of 49 suites, not far from Montego Bay airport. The Endless Privileges experience means I’m entitled to a personal butler, worldwide calls, all-inclusive dining and drinking, wi-fi and a complimentary 20-minute spa treatment — mine a meltingly good back massage. My Junior Suite Swim Out Ocean View features a king-size bed, dark wood furnishings, tropical paintings and Bvulgari toiletries next to a cavernous tub. An infinity pool is a luxurious addition, though shared with other suites. Organic and seasonal meals are offered at a choice of three restaurants. One highlight is the beachside Jerk Hut, which serves up cold Red Stripes and spicy jerk chicken. This is my kind of all-inclusive — one with a holistic approach that doesn’t cater to noisy partygoers. Stephanie Cavagnaro
YOTEL GATWICK AIRPORT
Operating on a capsule concept, Yotel cabins can be booked by the hour. My room is compact yet cleverly designed. An adjustable bed is propped up as a sofa, facing a flatscreen television hanging above a table and a single chair folded against the wall. A glass- walled washroom spans the length of the room, offering a walk-in rain shower and basic toiletries. Wi-fi is free and complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and bottled water can be requested around the clock. Hairdryers and alarm clocks can be borrowed by arrangement, and there’s a round-the -clock food and drinks menu, with reasonably priced pizzas, noodles and other treats, as well as a breakfast box. I’m at the departure gate within just five minutes of leaving my cabin, a complimentary to-go cup of coffee in hand. Tamsin Wressell
KULM HOTEL ST MORITZ
Set in glamorous St Moritz, the Kulm is a grand five-star hotel that played a central role in the founding of winter tourism in the area and, from the colonnaded entrance to the ornate trompe-l’oeil lobby, it makes a suitably stately first impression. The decor in my deluxe junior suite is suitably Alpine, with traditional Swiss stone pine and grey upholstered panelling, and large windows providing stunning views over the village and lake to the chocolate-box mountain scenery beyond. The hotel’s eight dining options are a mammoth draw, from the formal gourmet Grand Restaurant to the relaxed setting of the Pizzeria. I sampled neighbouring Chesa al Parc, at the entrance to Kulm Park, where the traditional menu provided the perfect antidote to an energetic day on the slopes. Seamus McDermott
