SNAPSHOT Solomon Atinyo, Newlyn, Cornwall Foreign crews buoy the UK fishing industry, and yet remain largely unseen. Looking to show the diversity of that world, I spent a morning with Solomon, Mantas and Phil, a crew of Ghanaians on board the Stelissa, a small boat fishing out of Newlyn in Cornwall. When I arrived, they were preparing for two weeks out in the Irish Sea. I went down into the living quarters to find Mantas cutting Solomon’s hair. Afterwards, they put on their oilskins and we spent an hour taking photos. Solomon and the crew were very amenable and really generous with their time. I’d love to see them again.
