Lancs for the memories

Crookrise Calling O

Join Steve McClure at Crookrise Crag in Yorkshire this June

n Saturday 2 June, we’re heading to Crookrise Crag in Yorkshire to celebrate the amazing climbing on offer at our newest crag acquisition. BMC ambassador Steve McClure will be there, passing on some tips and tricks to improve your climbing during an informal drop in bouldering circuit. Alongside Steve McClure, we’re also organising a crag treasure hunt where if you find tokens hidden on various routes and problems you can win a prize. Once fingertips are worn down and the grit rash gets a bit much, we’ll be retiring to the Elm Tree Pub for some food, tall tales and a slideshow. Locals are well versed in the quality of the routes and problems available on this exceptional gritstone crag and if you’ve never been before, this event is the perfect excuse to sample its delights.

Lancashire’s biggest and best climbing festival is back again, on Saturday 1 September in Wilton Quarry. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome from some of the most keen and passionate locals anywhere. Daytime activities will range from bouldering tours and yoga warmups to instructed climbing and the BMC gear breaker to test your old kit on as well as a lifetime’s worth of amazing quarried grit to climb. Once the shadows start getting longer, we’ll be firing up the BBQ, pouring a few pints and settling in for a slideshow from a secret special guest. Keep an eye on the BMC website for full details nearer the time but get the date in your diary – this is one event you don’t want to miss out on.
