hope that you’ve got your summer plans in place: walks to be tramped, climbs to be savoured and peaks to be conquered! Like many of us, my outdoor interests have varied over the years: from following the ticklists in Ken Wilson’s rock books to the Munros, from 4,000 peaks to Rebuffat points. Of course, we shouldn’t let lists rule our adventures, but they do encourage one to get out there.

We’re now approaching the BMC AGM, and the key message from me is that we really need your vote. Voting means that you can have your say in the key decisions (motions) that affect how we run things, how the BMC is funded, and candidates standing for key positions.


I’m extremely keen that all members have their say. It should not be left to the few to decide our future direction. Whether you’re an indoor boulderer, a winter mountaineer or an adventurous hill walker, please do cast your vote and help make the BMC stronger.
