BMC Mountain Medicine Weekend 2018 9 Jun, Hathersage, Peak District


The weekend offers climbers, hill walkers, mountaineers and skiers the chance to receive first aid training relevant to UK levels and high altitude from mountain medicine experts. Led by a team of top instructors, the workshops require no prior medical knowledge and are open to anyone with an interest in the outdoors.

Once again, the BMC Bouldering Championships returns for the main event of Cliffhanger as the nation’s most dynamic climbers battle it out on a purpose-built bouldering wall on Devonshire Green. Who will win the crown this year?


Qualifiers will take place on Saturday, while Semi-Finals and Finals are scheduled for Sunday. In 2017, we had a roaring crowd numbering in the thousands for the epic final; come down to watch the athletes’ journey from quails to finals and cheer them on to the top!

This network of women climbers from around the world was first established in 1968 in Switzerland. Meets are open to all women climbers of any level provided they can take responsibility for themselves when planning routes, leading or seconding, as there is no instruction. There is a summer, ice and ski touring meet every year in different countries. Women, their partners and children are welcome. The UK co-ordinator is Rya Tibawi: Rtibawi@aol.com


Training Your Novice Club Members Weekend

Costing only £65 for the weekend, this popular training event is aimed at experienced members of clubs who wish to help develop the skills of novice members in the outdoors. Mostly consisting of practical sessions, this course provides ideas to safely deliver a fantastic experience for your new club members.
