oral and practical exams. When these changes came out, it was thought it would result in less DMEs and less mechanics passing their exams. It appears the impact hasn’t been as dramatic as fi rst thought.

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE

ASSOCIATIONS Trade associations that represent mechanics have seen their own changes over the past 10 years. The Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA), currently the only trade association representing aviation mechanics, is in the midst of change. The honorable John Goglia was nominated as chairman in 2017. That same year, PAMA contracted with a dedicated operations manager and moved its operations to Jenks, OK. It has added new members

to its board to help rejuvenate the association and steer its future growth. (For more information, visit www.pama.org.)

D.O.M. MAGAZINE We have seen quite a few changes here at D.O.M. magazine over the past 10 years. We started out with six issues a year

(one every other month). We now publish 11 issues a year — nine print issues and two bonus digital-only issues. When we launched D.O.M. magazine in 2008, many people were saying that print was dying. They foreshadowed a not-too-distant future where digital media would dominate the magazine landscape. Well, they were wrong! We haven’t abandoned print. In

fact, we have increased our number of print issues from six to nine in the

past 10 years. In our annual reader survey, YOU tell us you prefer to receive the magazine via print. We are listening, and will continue to send D.O.M. magazine to your mailboxes! In addition, we have increased our online footprint. DOMmagazine.com off ers the latest news, industry events, jobs and access to our entire library of past issues — all for free. We are fortunate to have had a

wonderful group of contributing writers over the years. We thank them for their dedication and eff orts to help educate our readers on a wide variety of subjects. We would also like to thank all of our advertisers, past and present, for their support. Without them, all of this wouldn’t have been possible.
