TRAVEL AWARDS 2020

Welcome to your Globe Travel Awards voting special, where we reveal the companies that you nominated to be in the running for the most-sought-after awards in the industry, and where you can find out how to cast your vote.

When we get to the Globe Travel Awards on January 16, 2020, we will be facing an industry that’s very different from the one we celebrated at the beginning of this year. The collapse of Thomas Cook continues to be felt

across the industry. From the shock as thousands of staff found themselves out of work overnight, to more positive news as Hays Travel stepped in to reopen hundreds of high street branches. The ramifications will be felt for some time to

come, but it has been heartening to see how the travel trade has rallied round, working non-stop to help not just customers, but also colleagues affected by the travel giant’s demise, whether it was offering a job or simply a cup of tea and a sympathetic ear. It’s that spirit that we seek to celebrate at the

Globe Travel Awards, giving praise where it is due for the companies that really value and support the trade, which answer a travel agent’s call just as quickly as a consumer’s, and which invest time and money into helping you deliver

the holidays your customers want so everyone goes home happy. Despite the challenges we have faced, this has

also been a landmark year for us at Travel Weekly, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the magazine and 10 years as an independent business under the ownership of our chairman, Clive Jacobs. We have spent a lot

of time looking back through half a century of archives, at past issues documenting the many successes and failures that have shaped travel over the years. It’s reassuring to see that even when things looked bleaker than ever, the travel trade has always found a way of bouncing back, and I look forward to honouring the incredible resilience and heart of our industry at the
