RHS Gardens and Flower Shows:
Discover Where Inspiration Grows in 2019 Having been founded in 1804, the Royal Horticultural Society has been inspiring a love of gardens for over 200 years and brings the joy of gardening to millions of people each year. With its four wonderful gardens to explore, and a fifth in the making, as well as a world-famous calendar of Flower Shows and Festivals, there is plenty on offer for visitors to enjoy and a warm welcome for groups. What’s more, the next two years will see exciting developments across all its gardens and shows.
RHS Garden Wisley: New Developments at the historic home of the RHS
The historic home of the RHS, with one of the largest plant collections in the world, RHS Garden Wisley was founded more than 100 years ago. As the oldest and most diverse of the four RHS gardens, its collections include cultivated plants of national significance, with over 30,000 plant varieties across 200 acres.
2019 will see the opening of a beautiful new arrivals hall at Wisley, with a 100-seater restaurant, café, shop and expanded plant centre. Developments are also underway for a world-class new Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning in 2020. Surrounded by three new gardens, the centre will contain an extensive public exhibition space and provide a fascinating insight into the RHS’s work and research.
Inspirational Gardens, great shopping and delicious, locally sourced food
Whilst Wisley may be the oldest of the four gardens, all have their distinct personality, reflecting the unique character of their locations. From RHS Garden Rosemoor in Devon to RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate, and from RHS Garden Hyde Hall in Essex to the renowned RHS Garden Wisley, all are places of beauty, tranquility, interest and inspiration. No two visits are ever the same – as with a year- round calendar of events from craft fairs to Flower Shows, superb gift shops and plant centres to browse in, as well as the gardens themselves, there is constantly something new to discover. Full details of what’s on when can be found in the latest RHS Gardens and Flower Shows Group Travel Guide: ‘Where Inspiration Grows’.
A highlight of any visit is the delicious food on offer. Inspiration is drawn from the seasonal produce in the garden and the food and drink offering continues to win regional awards and delight customers. Special arrangements for groups include cream teas, garden picnics or mulled wine and mince pies at Christmas.
