FAM TRIP REPORT

FAM TRIP

Q. Give us an overview of your trip Our first stop was Zambia where we stayed at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, followed by a stay at Sausage Tree Camp on the Lower Zambezi. In Botswana, our next stop, we stayed at the Chobe Water Villas Kaprivi. Our final destination was Zimbabwe and we stayed at The Hide in Hwange National Park and the Victoria Falls Hotel.

Q. Had you been to Africa before? If not, what were your expectations? I had not been to Africa before and I was not expecting the camps and lodges to be of such a high standard, particularly the tents.

Q. Before travelling, what were you most excited about? For me the excitement was centred around seeing the animals in their natural habitat and escaping the day-to-day hustle and bustle of home to be somewhere more remote.

Q. What was your favourite accommodation and why? If you made me choose one I would have to say Sausage Tree Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The tent I stayed in was ultra-luxury, with a private pool. I shared the tent with a group of baboons who loved having a lazy afternoon by my pool. The service from the camp team was on another level – the staff were always one step ahead on game drives and available at any time of day or night. My highlight at this camp was canoeing down the Zambezi

Stuart heads on his first African adventure with specialist

Bushtracks Africa. His trip saw him visit Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, with epic animal sightings in every country

one afternoon with huge pods of hippos and crocodiles all around us. It was surreal to be so close to them but still feel at a safe distance. Because of the camp’s location on the river, animal sightings are constant. Sausage Tree Camp is a must on any trip to Zambia.

Q. What was your best animal sighting on the trip? I loved seeing crocodiles! In Botswana, our guide got us extremely close to them – they are such amazing animals, always ready to snap up their next meal. I also loved seeing absolutely adorable baby lion cubs and we watched them as they followed their mum down to the watering hole for a drink and to play. Seeing elephants was also very special.
