Carrier picks up the award for Luxury Team of the Year
Sector’s best honoured at first Aspire Awards
Aspire celebrated the best of the luxury travel sector at the first
Aspire Awards. The ceremony was held at
London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel with 300 people in attendance.
It was the first time Aspire had held a standalone awards event to recognise the top performers and brands in luxury travel. It was a particularly special
night for Andrew Devine and Gary Green, directors of Radlett agency Beaver Travel, and Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, chairman of Silversea Cruises and co-chairman of Abercrombie & Kent, with the trio receiving Outstanding Contribution to Luxury Travel awards. Tour operator Carrier was the big winner on the night, being the only company to pick up two awards: Luxury Tour Operator of the Year and Luxury Team of the Year. Mark Duguid, managing director
of Carrier, said: “To win two awards at Aspire’s inaugural ceremony was
an incredible honour. The whole team is absolutely thrilled that Aspire and its agent community have recognised us in this way.” Other agents to be recognised included Clare Levy, of Different Planet Travel, who picked up the gong for Travel Professional of the Year, and More Travel in Stamford, which won the Independent Agency of the Year category. Quintessentially Travel received the Concierge Agency of the Year award, while Thames Travel of East Twickenham won Best Use of Content. The event was held in partnership with headline sponsor Celebrity Cruises. Other sponsors were ANA, Indulgent Escapes by Jet2holidays, Seabourn, Silversea Cruises, Accord, Uniworld, Belmond, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Royal Caribbean. Nicola McNeish, of Celebrity
Cruises, said: “It is so inspiring to see the work the industry does to create such memorable travel experiences for their customers.”
