NOBU HOTEL MARBELLA Marbella, Spain
LOCATION: On Marbella’s famous Golden Mile. Although this property is set within the grounds of the Puente Romano Beach Resort, Nobu Hotel Marbella still manages to maintain a sense of seclusion. This is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property set within a Leading Hotels of the World, but somehow it manages to work. Malaga airport is 45 minutes’ drive away.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Expectations are always going to be high for a brand held in such high esteem as Nobu, but those expectations go up a notch when you discover your airport transfer (and shuttle around Marbella during your stay) is a Tesla. The property has a private entrance and I was immediately struck by the decor – a cross between ryokan-style Japan and retro Hollywood. Super-trendy. Think dark woods and strip lights combined with bright and bold neon artwork. With perfect whitewashed walls (very Andalusian) encasing a courtyard of popular bars and restaurants, the property has quickly become one of the trendiest hangouts in Marbella, and I can understand why. The rooms and suites are just as chic, with a neutral palette of earthy tones, crisp whites and greys.
THE FACTS: Nobu Hotel Marbella is one of the latest openings from actor-turned-hotelier Robert De Niro and his business partners – renowned Viv LÕ >ÌÃÕÃ> >` w «À`ÕViÀ

Teper. The 80-room property has six room and suite categories, ranging from a Deluxe Room to an expansive four-bedroom suite. Guests staying at the property have access to a private Nobu pool as well as to the gym facilities at Puente Romano, located at the property’s impressive tennis club. Similarly, Nobu guests can use the Six Senses Spa located close to the beach, although during my stay there was talk of adding a dedicated and exclusive Nobu spa.
EXPLORE: You can easily while away hours at the property itself, but take the opportunity to venture to Marbella’s Old Town and the Puerto Banus Marina, which boasts great shopping. Both can be reached within 15 minutes on bikes which can be hired from the hotel.
WOW: Food, glorious food! The dining options here are exquisite. Of course, the main Nobu restaurant is outstanding, as you’d expect it to be, but the deliciousness doesn’t stop there as guests can also book to eat at any of Puente Romano’s 12 venues. My favourite was tapas restaurant Bibo, home to the greatest croquetas in the world (in my humble opinion).
BOOK IT: Rates for a Deluxe Room at Nobu Hotel Marbella lead in at £295 including breakfast.
