Railbookers has added 10 itineraries to its Independent Rail Holidays 2018-19 brochure.

The independent rail specialist

started working proactively with the trade in January and has seen average selling prices rocket as a result of selling through agents. The average booking value

through agents is about £4,000. Railbookers’ average sales price

across all trade and direct business is about £2,500. The new itineraries are the

result of working more closely with agents across the UK, with

more trips that link with flights or ferries from UK regions to destinations including Scandinavia, Poland, Berlin, Prague and Rome. A new five-day Rome via The

Alps trip starts at £699, including Eurostar travel to Paris and onward rail travel, one night in Geneva and three nights in Rome on a bed-and- breakfast basis, and flights back to the UK. Alternatively, clients can fly from their local airport to Geneva. UK managing director Peter

Traynor said: “We’ve been focused on providing Eurostar routes to Europe, and Eurostar remains hugely important. But with agents booking in areas such as Scotland, it’s not surprising we are seeing growth in transport links out of the

regions, driven by agents. Our 2018 programme has reacted to agent demand to offer more variety.” The range in North America has doubled to 14 trips, in response to demand for longer itineraries. Early-booking discounts of up to £200 are available on selected trips. Trade sales through Railbookers

have risen from 2% to more than 10% since the push. The operator is targeting 50%. Railbookers is due to launch

a trade portal next month and attend more roadshows. It also plans to promote its trips as pre- and post-cruise holidays, following a rise in the number of agents

booking itineraries around cruises. railbookers.com
