Story: Heathrow demands APD scrapped on domestic flights Whatever we think about APD, abolishing it on UK domestic flights would create a market distortion which would amount to little more than a hidden subsidy to Heathrow. It would make no sense to pay APD on a connecting flight from a UK regional airport to Schiphol or Paris CDG but not on one to Heathrow.

Comment: North by north best Great to see decentralisation and more interest in the north. We are a friendly bunch really but more investment in accessibility – rail especially – needs to be made in the northern regions versus not the south but London specifically. Ryanair should have wet-leased capacity
Comment: Ryanair – what a cockpit Instead of cancelling so many services, why haven’t Ryanair wet-leased in capacity? They already wet-lease in a limited amount of units in the summer. The reality is they do not care enough about the customer. Ryanair needs to change its management in key areas. It is successful but it needs to evolve to survive and prosper.

The issue here is brand protection. Losing top people to a competitor is going to cause major disruption and dnata has every right to delay this as long as possible. It may cost them a few pennies but buy them time to limit the damage the former employees can do to their former business and client base. JOHN
Dnata is huge compared to If Only (compare their Atols) and no matter how popular Andy Freeth and his team (pictured) are, at If Only they won’t have the dnata resources so won’t be able to be so open-handed with fam trips and hospitality. TONY

Dnata’s legal action divides opinion
Story: Dnata legal action delays ex-bosses’ move to If Only Really? How pathetic is that? People have decided to leave – let them go and be gracious about it. Why use the strong arm? To me, this doesn’t reflect well on dnata and will cause them bad publicity and ill-feeling among agents. HARV
