Agents Connect launches webinars

Ben Ireland ben.ireland@travelweekly.co.uk

Agents Connect, a portal for the travel trade to find exclusive rates and incentives, has launched a series of webinars on Travel Weekly’s website.

The hub, which has agent rates

for 60,000 hotels, with a focus on Spain and the Caribbean, is ramping up its efforts with the UK trade as it aims to build on its 1,800 travel agent sign-ups since its soft launch in January. It bills itself as the website

“where the travel industry earns, learns and saves”. As well as offering discounted rates for agents’ holidays, it highlights booking and commission incentives for agents’ customer bookings. It has 3,500 affiliated agents in Spain, where it is known as Solo Para Agentes, and 19,500 in the US and Canada, where it is known as Wheels Up.

Bahia Principe to open Fantasia hotel in Tenerife in November

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is to open an all-inclusive hotel centred around a fairytale-style castle in Tenerife. The Fantasia Bahia Principe

Tenerife will be part of the group’s new family-focused Fantasia brand. Open from November 1, it will be the brand’s second hotel, after Fantasia Bahia Principe Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It will have 370 rooms, four swimming pools, five

restaurants and six bars. There will be themed areas, children’s and teens’ clubs, a spa and on- site waterpark, all surrounding its central feature – a fairytale- style castle structure offering what the hotel group described as “a whimsical setting”.

Agents, who can sign up for free, book direct with suppliers via links from the Agents Connect site. The first of eight webinars

started last week with a focus on Spanish theme park PortAventura. Further sessions are planned with partners such as transfers specialist Hoppa and hotel groups Zafiro, Magic Costa Blanca,
