CRUISE NEWS YOU CAN USE

Bag a European river cruise by booking Scenic or Emerald

Scenic and Emerald Waterways has introduced a ‘Sell Three, Sail Free’ incentive for agents. The offer, which is valid

for bookings made until November 30, gives agents the chance to enjoy a free eight-day European trip when they sell three of the company’s river cruises. Dawn Quinn, national sales manager, said the incentive is one of the brands’ most generous. “This is our way of saying thank

you to the travel agents who are passionate ambassadors for both of our brands,” she said. “It is also an opportunity for

agents to experience the products they are selling for themselves.” The cruise is valid for two people sharing a cabin in 2018.

U by Uniworld invites agents of all ages to try the brand with a 60% off trade rate

Uniworld has announced dedicated U by Uniworld cruises for agent partners of all ages in response to demand. The new brand usually has

an age restriction of 21 to 45 years but has lifted this for agents to experience the product themselves. This follows the success of the

brand’s ‘sneak peek’ cruise on its vessel The B last month. The brand, described as the first river cruise line for millennials,

will offer eight sailings across various itineraries on the Seine, Danube and Rhine in 2018 to agents to try for themselves. Around 20 rooms per cruise will

be offered at a special agent rate of 60% off the published fare on selected The A and The B sailings in April, May, August and October. These itineraries will not be on direct sale to the public and will not be part of U’s 2018 programme. But agents will be able to book their own clients of any age who are interested in trying out U by Uniworld on these eight sailings. Uniworld president Ellen Bettridge said: “We want to ensure we are providing travel agents with the best opportunities to not only experience this history-making river cruise for themselves but to also best meet the needs of this

diverse millennial generation.” ubyuniworld.com

Heels on the runway

We are continuing to grow our passenger numbers over the winter period and finished 5% up on October last year. Also last month, Ryanair began its three-times-a-week flight to Milan (Malpensa) and easyJet celebrated its first flight to Venice. Continuing the great news we were awarded a five-

This year was my third year at World Travel Market and I saw new suppliers, as well as existing partners and tour operators adding new products and destinations to their portfolio. And I picked up a trend for regional airports. This is a great opportunity for Liverpool John Lennon Airport. JTA Travel and MSC

weekend and pushed our Iceland departure with Super Break to the 1,000+ homeworkers. It was also interesting to hear Travel Counsellors partnership programme for next year. I am brainstorming ideas of how we can best use this platform. Blue Air and easyJet are due to make exciting announcements in the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for the newsletters

and on Facebook.
