Explore Qatar HISTORY & CULTURE
From museums to souqs, Doha’s rich heritage means there are a number of significant attractions for your customers to explore during their stopover. Outside the city there are historical forts and quaint fishing villages that offer a real taste of local life.
Head to the northwest of Qatar and you will find Unesco-listed Al Zubarah Fort, a significant archaeological site. Just over an hour from Doha, it is one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th-century settlement in the region. The area was also once famous for trading and pearl diving.
Back in Doha, Katara Cultural Village is a district for all things arts and entertainment. Boasting an open amphitheatre, opera house, drama theatre and more, visitors can catch a performance here. There is also a planetarium, beach and a number of restaurants and cafes, so the area has plenty to entertain the whole family.
REST & RELAXATION
On a short stopover, your customers may wish to spend their time relaxing and recharging before their next flight, and there are plenty of opportunities to do this in Qatar.
The Doha Corniche is a popular spot to take in the views of the capital’s skyline, as well as kick back and relax in one of its cafes and restaurants. Stretching more than four miles along Doha’s bay, the Corniche is a waterfront promenade, popular with walkers and joggers alike. It is also where you can visit the famous Museum of Islamic Art or hop on a traditional wooden dhow boat for a bay cruise.
A great location to experience the finer side of life, The Pearl-Qatar, a manmade island in the north of Doha, is a slice of luxury for customers who want to splash out on an upmarket meal, stroll past the yachts in the marina or visit the luxury shops.
Qatar’s Stopover Program offers a selection of Doha’s four and five-star hotels for as little as $23. Located just across from The Pearl-Qatar is the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas. Close to both the airport and the city’s commercial centre, the hotel is ideal for a short stopover. And with its own 400-metre private beach, your customers can relax and soak up the Doha sun.
If clients are looking for a quaint retreat, Al Bidda Boutique Hotel, situated in the famous Souq Waqif, is a luxury escape and is perfectly located for those who wish to visit the local stalls for some shopping, or enjoy coffee and dates at night with the locals.
