Annabel Cove

head of trade sales and marketing, Do Something Different

Q. Do Something Different is one of the headline sponsors of this year’s Agent Achievement Awards. What makes this event stand out for your brand? A. Travel Weekly has always known how to host a great party! The AAAs are among the glitziest and most glamorous and so not being a company to shy away from the limelight, we were absolutely delighted to be given the chance to be a headline sponsor of this year’s event and to join our agent partners in celebrating their achievements – in style!

We chat to Do Something Different’s head of trade sales and marketing, Annabel Cove, as we continue our countdown to this year’s Agent Achievement Awards

Q. The AAAs are the biggest agent awards in the UK. What have you been doing to improve your relationship with the trade? A. More and more people are looking for experience-based holidays rather than fly-and- flop beach breaks – which is great for DSD! But we understand that building attractions and experiences into the booking isn’t always easy. That’s why at DSD we make it our mission to make selling tickets easy and fun! We reinforce this by offering agents flexible trading terms like not charging amendment fees and, where we can, not charging cancellation fees. We’re

also switching more of our products to mobile and gate-ready tickets for the most-popular attractions. We host useful and engaging ticket sales training events, we have a fabulous suite of marketing tools accessible straight from the website, we take you on experience-led fam trips because we believe you have to see it and feel it to sell it; and, last but not least, we have an awesome sales team on the road from John O’Groats to Land’s End to visit you in branch, bring the tea cakes and a flashing pen and support your business from the ground!

Q. Why are agents so important to DSD? A. We only work with independent agents – so our trade partners are extremely important. Equally, customers are not always aware of the breadth of attractions and experiences available. We rely on our agent partners to showcase our exciting attractions. Whether your customers are booking an albatross encounter in Kaikoura in New Zealand, watching a fire trance dance on the beach in Bali or reserving front row seats for Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas – creating holiday memories is what we do!
