ADVERTISING FEATURE OMINICA

heading towards hot and humid, as the summer starts to kick in. Either way, in the peak or shoulder period, Dominica is divine… rain or shine.

Q: How important is the travel trade for Dominica and what else are you doing to educate and support agents? Dominica is still relatively undiscovered – it’s a hidden gem in the Caribbean. The nature of the island satisfies the desires of the adventurer, whether their focus is on cuisine, culture, heritage, the outdoors or the sea. We ensure that agents, particularly those in the active and adventure touring space, are fully educated so that they are not missing out on what the destination has to offer for their customers.

Five things to do in Dominica

1

HIKE A SEGMENT OF THE WAITUKUBULI NATIONAL TRAIL With 115 miles of exhilarating views and beautiful landscapes, this trail is divided into 14 segments. The final leg starts in Canna Heritage Park and ends in Fort Shirley in Cabrits National Park, the island’s most historic site.

TREK TO THE WORLD’S SECOND-LARGEST BOILING LAKE Boiling Lake is a cauldron of bubbling, grey-blue water that is usually enveloped in a cloud of vapour. Visitors will be able to sample the power and splendour of nature in its rawest form.

3

SNORKEL IN CHAMPAGNE BUBBLES Named for the bubbling waters rising from volcanic thermal springs on the ocean floor, Champagne Reef attracts diving and snorkelling enthusiasts from around the world. The reef’s plummeting cliffs and towering volcanic formations are reminiscent of Dominica’s huge mountains and gorges.

TAKE AN INDIAN RIVER BOAT RIDE Be transported from the town of Portsmouth to the warm embrace of nature by taking a tour along the scenic Indian River. See for yourself where scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed, or enjoy a signature rum drink and smoked fish at the legendary ‘Bush Bar’.

5

RELAX IN A NATURAL SULPHUR SPA Experience the health benefits of soaking in one of the many natural sulphur hot springs and bubbling mud baths that dot the island. Or take a dip in a crystal-clear protected bay and let the waves wash away your stress.
