ubai and Arabia continue to go from strength to strength and show no sign of slowing down, with Dubai getting ready for EXPO2020 with a target of 20 million visitors, and huge development of both hotels and out-of-this-world attractions across all destinations. Gold Medal’s sales into the region are up across the board with the once lesser known, Ras Al Khaimah up a whopping 112%. This year’s portfolio see 20 new properties and new experiences added for 2019, to ensure we’re selling the

New Dubai city centre hotels The last 12 months has seen a trend towards three-star properties opening in the city to cater for stopovers and budget conscious travellers. Check out three-star Zabeel House by Jumeirah and Zabeel House MINI on page 74.

abu Dhabi on Yas Island and the Louvre
Abu Dhabi – Gold Medal’s sales to the UAE’s capital grew 8% in 2018. To support this increase in visitation there are new hotels being built too. On Saadiyat Island we’ve included two new openings, fi ve-star Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island and fi ve-star, all inclusive property Rixos Saadiyat Island.
Indian Ocean & India R
esponding to increasing market demand, this year sees Gold Medal’s Indian Ocean & Indian brochure increase by 14 pages, with new product added across the portfolio. Sales in 2018 were strong across all destinations, and this looks to continue in 2019. Gold Medal saw double digit growth in room nights to the Maldives and an overall lift of 9% year on year for Sri Lanka. In response to these trends, we’ve increased the portfolio to include nine new properties in the Maldives and seven new properties in Sri Lanka,
plus we’ve added a handful of new additions in our other destinations, to further complement our existing portfolio. 29 new properties & two new extended tours added for 2019
India beach breaks Last year we introduced India to the Gold Medal portfolio for the fi rst time, following its success this year we have increased our product range in the beach destination of Goa to the meet the increasing demand from the UK market. See page 96

Focus on the Maldives
Arrivals into the Maldives from the UK market are on the up, and tourism arrivals overall are expected to increase signifi cantly over
the next few years. At Gold Medal, we saw double
digit growth in room nights into the Maldives, with a strong focus on luxury (four and fi ve star) product. To meet the demand from the worldwide market the country has embarked on a large-scale development project with new hotel openings and an expansion of the airport, with a runway extension which allows A380s to land.
Enhanced experiences In this year’s brochure we’ve included more
information on the incredible amount of experiences and activities there are across the region to help inspire your
customers and help you to sell more attachments. On pages 16-17 we showcase the fantastic choice of attractions and dining experiences on offer including brunch, Michelin-starred restaurants and Ladies’ Night, as well as the popular sporting and music events going on in the destination, including the Rugby 7’s and Golf Open Championship.
