Wyndham opens its first La Quinta
hotel outside Americas in Istanbul Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened its first La Quinta property outside the Americas. The 404-room La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli offers easy access to Istanbul airport and the city’s Expo Centre. Facilities include three restaurants and a fitness centre with sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room and indoor pool. La Quinta by Wyndham is an upper-midmarket brand with more than 900 hotels across North and Latin America.

Greece’s Sani Resort opens Bear Grylls Survival Academy
Sani Resort in Greece has unveiled what it claims is the first Bear Grylls Survival Academy at a luxury Mediterranean resort. The resort has partnered with
the TV presenter and survival specialist to design courses for guests aged six and older. Sani aims to tap into demand
from parents who want their children to stay active, get back to nature and learn a skill on holiday. Courses will include lessons in
camouflage, navigation and raft building, and will take place in an ecological reserve around Sani Resort, which is in Halkidiki. A four-hour family course
costs €40 per person, with a 10% discount for families of up to four. A two-hour evening course
for teens costs €40, with a 10% discount when booking the course for five days.

Tenerife’s Barceló
Santiago reopens The Barceló Santiago hotel in Los Gigantes, Tenerife, has reopened following a two-year, €10 million refurbishment. The 407-room hotel has three pools and a spa, and new excursions include sea mammal watching, 4x4 adventures and hiking on Mount Teide. A double room costs from €137 per night on a half-board basis.

Jet2holidays expands Mykonos range to more than 30 hotels

Jet2holidays has expanded its hotel portfolio in Mykonos two months after announcing it will offer the Greek island for the first time this summer. The extra properties, in the resorts of Elia Beach and
Ornos, bring the number of hotels featured in Mykonos to more than 30. In November 2019, the company said it will operate
flights to Mykonos from Manchester and Stansted for summer 2020. Flights start on May 24. It said the additional properties provide a broader
range of accommodation in villages including Agios Ioannis, Mykonos Town, Psarrou, Panormos, Tourlos and Platis Yialos. In the new mountainside resort of Elia Beach, there
are four five-star accommodation options, while in the fishing village of Ornos in the south of the island, the four-star Kivotos Mykonos is new. Two five-star hotels from the operator’s Vibe by
Jet2holidays collection, aimed at millennials, have been added: the Myconian Korali and Myconian Kyma. They form part of the collection’s ‘chilled vibe’
category of properties, featuring top-of-the-range facilities and locations. There are five new properties in Jet2holidays’ Luxe
collection, including the Myconian Naia in Mykonos Town; Myconian Utopia and Myconian Avaton in Elia Beach; Myconian Ambassador in Platis Yialos; and Mykonos Grand Resort & Spa in Agios Ioannis. This collection of four and five-star properties in
‘exclusive’ locations focuses on stylish decor, good service and restaurants. Steve Heapy, chief executive of
