2023 PREVIEW

Cheers of joy: the last Globe Travel Awards

We’ve added new special awards for the 2023 Globe Travel Awards to recognise outstanding efforts in sustainability, and companies that strive to take care of employees’ mental health Sustainability and mental health have taken

centre stage in recent years, accelerated by the onset of the pandemic, so we’re delighted to create these awards in recognition of their growing importance. The new Sustainable Future and Employer

of the Year awards will honour trade suppliers putting sustainable issues and staff wellbeing at the top of their agenda.

Companies can put themselves forward for the new awards, by October 26, and a panel of experts will select the winners. Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley

said: “Travel Weekly has a long history of covering the crucial issues facing the travel industry, with mental health, staff wellbeing and sustainability all key focuses in our 50th anniversary year in 2019. “We were delighted to reflect that commitment to these topics with the introduction of new categories in the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards prior to the pandemic. “As we begin to emerge from a period of incredible disruption, it is only right that we

should also recognise excellence in these fields at the Globe Travel Awards. I would like to express my thanks in advance to the companies that put forward entries in these new categories.”

The two new awards are: Q Sustainable Future Award This award is for a travel company selling through trade channels that has gone above and beyond in planning a sustainable future. Judges will be looking for a commitment to sustainable operations now as well as in future, rewarding those putting responsible travel at the forefront – both within their business and the wider industry.

Q Employer of the Year Award Our second new award is for travel companies that show an exceptional commitment to staff wellbeing and development. The winner will be able to demonstrate a tried-and-tested strategy around staff progression and retention, business performance and the wider workforce and community, putting mental health front and centre in their business plans.

The winners of these and all the awards will be announced at the Globe Travel Awards 2023, to be held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel in London on January 12, 2023.
