Manston: Airport hopes ‘unrealistic’ BA: Axed flights will spur later bookings
Story: Manston owners seek to revive passenger flights Comparing themselves to Southend airport shows just how out of touch with reality [Manston owner RiverOak Strategic Partners] are. Southend no longer has a single passenger plane based there; any easyJet flights arrive from an overseas base; and some days there is only a single flight. The airport closed last winter and is planning the same from the end of October. And this despite it having a rail connection virtually on its front door – unlike Manston. The last airline based at Manston that attempted regular passenger flights was EUjet in 2004 and it went bust less than 12 months later.
Alan Bowen, AGB Associates Q Travel Weekly invites a response from RiverOak Strategic Partners
Advantage: Duo praised
Story: Advantage promotes operations team members Ainsworth and Pullen Kelly Cheesman [The Sassy Explorer]: Well done guys, always there to help. Well deserved.
Story: BA cancels 10,000 winter flights in bid to prevent disruption Unfortunately, holidaying in the UK in the winter is a dismal affair. Folk will still want to escape the UK (and save on their heating bills), but actions like these from BA mean that people are more likely to wait and book last-minute to ensure their trip goes ahead. Lee Ainsworth Mark Pullen Refunds: ‘We’re not banks’
Story: Agents will be required to refund cancelled US flights if named on bill Dorothy Howson [Hallmark Travel]: Why not make the airlines refund in a timely manner instead if they have been given the money? Guy Widman [Journey the World]: We are travel agents, not banks!

Fabulous day to get some hill training in for my climb of Mount Toubkal in October for Abta LifeLine and Planeterra. Anything you can do to support these two great charities (and get me up the big hill) would be amazing!
