Eliminating single-use plastic bottles saves hotel group over £200k


English Lakes Hotels is a family run group of three Lake District hotels and two in Lancashire. Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, Waterhead and The Wild Boar lie in the heart of the Lake District, two on the shores of the stunning Lake Windermere. The Midland and Lancaster House Hotels are in Lancashire, for easy access to coast, city or countryside.

As proud members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme the group is always looking for opportunities to improve their


sustainability, aspirations in customer experience.


One of their key concerns was the number of single-use bottles of water they were using and the impact this was having on the environment. There were also ordering and storage issues using bought-in bottled water. A solution was required to combat these issues, as well as to offer ongoing cost savings.


EcoPure Waters’ systems meet all these requirements.

The Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa installed the Group’s first EcoPure Waters’ system in 2010. Michelle Croukamp, Deputy Resort Manager, explains how the system benefits the hotel’s guests,
