Capri, Italy


LOCATION: In the heart of Anacapri – the more laidback of the island’s two towns, and also the higher of the two. Here ÞoÕ½ll wn` loV>là ÃloÜlÞ nÕÀÃin} iëÀiÃÃoà >à ÌhiÞ «ÕÌ Ìhi ÜoÀl` to rights and a bounty of artisanal boutiques.


FIRST IMPRESSIONS: After a pleasant ferry from Naples, we were whisked into a car for the short ride from Capri to Anacapri. The roads connecting the two are windy and very narrow, but the scenery is stunning. An 18th-century Neapolitan palazzo, this iconic hotel has a crisp, clean, all-white interior, with soft furnishings and contemporary artwork adding splashes of colour to most rooms.


THE FACTS: The property, which operates under the Jumeirah brand, has 68 rooms including 19 suites. Some of these have private pools and gardens. The best rooms are the ones with sea views. The decor is very Mediterranean, with blue and white ceramic tiles and linen and cotton fabrics. Some rooms feel nautical with stripe designs, others are individually decorated with themed rooms that pay homage to the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Gwyneth Paltrow and Andy Warhol. Capri Palace’s L’Olivo, serving breakfast and dinner, is the only restaurant on the island with two Michelin stars. The evening tasting menu is delicious and uses local seasonal ingredients. Bar Deli Artist has live music and a brilliant terrace to watch the sunset.


IDEAL FOR: Recommend this property to couples wanting to relax and enjoy good shopping and epic food!


EXPLORE: Take the chairlift up Mount Salaro, the highest point on the island, for exceptional views. The departure point is two minutes from the entrance of Capri Palace. A visit to the property’s Il Riccio Beach Club is a must, but booking in advance is essential. The club serves exceptional seafood and has a room dedicated to desserts. It also has a partnership ÜiÌh ioÀ >n` ÞoÕ½ll wn` >n iÝVlÕÃiÛi ioÀiÛiiÀ> «o«-Õ« boutique and Dior furnishings throughout.


WOW: The spa is incredible. The hotel has won countless awards for its medical spa and I was lucky enough to try a treatment from its ‘Leg School’. After being smeared with menthol-infused mud, washed down and bandaged up I was told to walk laps of two pools – one freezing cold and the other lukewarm. Treatments aim to improve circulation >n` lÞm«h>ÌiV yoÜ >à Üill >à «ÀiÛinÌ VillÕliÌi° V>n½Ì Ã>Þ I saw an improvement after one treatment, as the spa recommends a course, but it was a memorable experience.
