WILD HILL Enonkishu Conservancy, Kenya
LOCATION: Where Kenya meets Tanzania, the Maasai Mara and its vast plains stretch for almost 600 square miles, encompassing some of the country’s most famed safari landscapes. On the border of the Enonkishu and Ol Choro conservancies, Wild Hill is the only property to be found atop Kileleoni Hill, the highest point in the whole Mara ecosystem. The journey to reach the lodge is proof of its exclusivity – the 15-minute drive up the hill, which feels vertical at points, is quite a bumpy ride, but is handled with expert care and makes our eventual arrival feel that little bit more rewarding.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nothing could have prepared me for Ãiiin} 7il` ill voÀ Ìhi wÀÃÌ Ìimi° Ƃ ÌÕnnilli` Ü>lkÜ>Þ >VÌà as the boundary between the driveway and the rest of the property, and passing through it feels as if we’re leaving the Ài>l ÜoÀl` Lihin`° n Ìhià niÜ] Ã>v>Ài-v>nÌ>ÃÞ ÜoÀl` wn` mÞÃilv in, there’s a sleek open-plan dining and living space with rustic, wooden touches, but it’s the terrace just beyond that steals the show. It’s hard to overstate just how epic the view across the Maasai Mara is from up here, and the pool and hot tub are the most indulgent spots from which to admire it.

However, the property doesn’t necessarily have to be the backdrop for wildlife-focused adventures – with its impressive facilities and secluded location, Wild Hill also lends itself to wellness breaks, family bonding time or simply a retreat away from the world.

Feeling so up-close with one of the world’s most venerable wildlife areas was moving, and a memory I will always cherish.
