Luxury resort group Kerzner International will assume management of Shamwari Private Game Reserve in South Africa from April 1. The 61-key property will join the company’s Rare Finds portfolio of “one-of-a-kind”
resorts around the world. The reserve on South Africa’s Eastern Cape houses six lodges and a central
Explorer Camp, as well as a range of dining spaces, a spa and wellness facilities. Shamwari is almost 97 square miles in size and is home to more than 5,000 animals, including the big five and about 275 species of bird. Guests can experience twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, birdwatching
tours, river boat trips, photography safaris and stargazing evenings. The resort is child-friendly, with guests over the age of three allowed on game
drives. There is also a dedicated Kids on Safari programme and an adventure playground and zipline on site. Shamwari is accessible via a private air shuttle service from Johannesburg and Cape
Town, which lands at an exclusive airstrip a short drive from the reserve’s lodges.
