Energy waste can be reduced in compressed air The company will be

Reducing energy waste in compressed air is vital to the eff iciency of a manufacturing process, says BCAS. It leads to cost savings and to prolonged equipment life. Experts from the compressed air

specialist will be on-hand to advise on what can be done to reduce energy waste in compressed air. Of the total energy supplied to a compressor, as little as eight to 10% may be converted into useful energy that can do work at the point of use.

Hygienic design minimises contamination

The latest addition to Berger Tools’ HD range of hygienic design standard elements, GN305 adjustable hand levers, can be used whenever parts have to be clamped in confined spaces or particular lever positions. Another highlight on the stand

is the ball lock pins, GN113.10, in stainless steel. They are used for quick fixing, connecting and locking

parts which have to be frequently removed and replaced. Finally, GN335 oval tubular handles

have an inclined 45° angle and can be screwed onto the handle shanks allowing special lengths to be ordered, even in small quantities.

Probes monitor aerospace engines

Service provided by Bowyer Engineering include design and build for robotic assembly jigs, assembly tooling, welding fixtures, inspection fixtures and robotic end eff ectors. The company manufactures temperature and pressure monitoring probes for aerospace engines and provides sub-contract piece part manufacturing on multi-axis CNC and conventional machines.

demonstrating some of the key measures that can be put in place to improve the energy eff iciency of compressed air systems, from system design and maintenance, to data logging and air leak detection audits. Data logging equipment will

be available to view on the stand, alongside a range of Gardner Denver compressors and Elmo Rietschle vacuum and blower equipment.

Five new machines to crimp and strip

Five machines for cable preparation equipment are among the tailormade solutions showcased by Automated Cable Solutions. They include the PP3+ stripper crimper (pictured), a multi-core wire stripper and digital microscope. Visitors to the stand will see hand

tools, mini applicators, crimping presses, wire pull testers, cable pre- feeders, machines for cutting cable and tubing, cutting and striping, jacket stripping, coax stripping, wire stripping, magnet wire stripping and braid combing. There will be demonstrations of equipment from Carpenter, Gamma and Rittmeyer and new loose piece machines. The company also supplies cut,

strip and crimp machines from Jam Automatic Machine (JAM), which specialises in crimping the smaller range of terminals, with a space saving footprint of 2m2. The company is also an agent for

GEM Terminal, Mikropla and Hatko and off ers a range of bandolier terminals for side feed and rear feed terminals for mini applicators. A range of used equipment by Schleuniger, Komax, Kirsten, Mecal, and Gamma is for sale. The company is always looking to buy used or part- exchange machines, and will try to find a machine if it is not in stock.

An EDM notching service supports NDT and NDE inspection techniques.

Stamping and presswork specialist, C Brandauer, is proving that the best things in manufacturing come in small packages. It has invested heavily in new high-speed presses, ancillaries, grinding machines and the latest laser inspection equipment for the production of stamped metal components. Accuracy to a tolerance of 20µm

is paramount when making parts for the next generation electric engine or military drone. The company’s ‘What is a Micron’

video will be shown, to provide an in-depth look into the technical aspects of precision metal stamping, the importance of producing to exact tolerances, the materials involved and the end applications.

Event Sponsors:

“A human hair is 50 microns

thick so that gives you an idea of the parameters we are working towards,” commented Graham Allison, technical sales manager. The company has recently secured several major contracts in the UK, Europe and the USA. The company will also be

showcasing EloPin press-fit technology, which allows the solderless connection of terminal pins to a PCB, for automotive electronics and any customers looking for robust interconnects.

An integrated digital microscope system designed specifically for production and quality control environments is available from Ash Technologies. The Inspex II has an intuitive software interface which simplifies operation and control of the system, increasing eff iciency, control and traceability of inspection, says the company. The ergonomic, fully integrated,

standalone system does not require a PC. The AshCal auto-calibration feature removes the need for time-consuming recalibrations for each zoom change. 2D point-to- point precision line measurements and annotations can be captured on images for qualification and documentation whilst on-screen overlays enable the go/no-go rapid inspection of samples. Users can streamline the production processes and prevent human error with user access privileges

and programmable preset options

for controlled and standardised inspection processes. Other

features are interchangeable illumination options, a one-click autofocus on-screen indicator and image stamping with time, date, user and magnification level. The company established

in 1994, specialises in digital magnification and imaging solutions. Its inspection solutions can improve production process quality and cost eff iciencies, increase operator performance and productivity and aid training, claims the company.
