Finishing machine is mobile

Compact, mobile and versatile for finishing both plastic and metal parts, including AM/3D printed ones, Rösler UK is showing a plug-and-play RMO trough machine.

It off ers a new dimension of batch and single item

production, says the company. It is equipped with a 220V single- phase connection enabling it to be easily placed at the side of the manufacturing machine. The 3000 RPM motor is capable of off ering short process times with a high grinding eff ect.

The trough can be easily divided

by fitting a series of polyurethane coated plates for the contact-free treatment of sensitive components. By using the dividers, parts of diff erent sizes can be deburred, surfaces improved, and even ball burnished, in the specific compartments. The machine is off ered with noise

insulation and integrated long life water/compound supply of 18 litres. The mobile machine is capable

of smoothing, radiusing and/ or polishing metal and plastic components wherever and whenever needed. The company specialises in shot

blasting and vibratory finishing, and off ers surface finishing technology for the automotive, motorsport, aerospace, medical, food processing and jewellery industries.

Material increases precision in machining

A new premium material for the machining of high precision components has been developed by Röchling Engineering Plastics (UK). EtroX V has low residual stress and high dimensional stability, even at high temperatures up to 250°C. The company reports that at

5,300MPa, the tensile modulus of elasticity is considerably higher than that of the tested reference material and thus ensures higher strength and reduced burr formation during machining. It was measured according to DIN EN ISO 572. At 275MPa, the ball indentation

hardness, measured according to DIN EN ISO 2039-1, is higher than the values of comparable materials and allows precise machining of components, continues the company. The material has 0.1% water

absorption, the lowest value compared to reference materials, measured to DIN EN ISO 62. The material has been successfully

used for the machining of high- precision test sockets with extremely small boreholes. These have a minimum diameter of up to 0.1mm and are formed with only minimal burr formation. The risk of individual, defective boreholes and thus defective components is reduced, reports the company. Optical position tests carried out by customers on test sockets made of EtroX V have demonstrated precise positioning of boreholes, underscoring the low stress level and the machinability of the material.

For over 30 years, SIC Marking has engineered a full range of technically superior marking machines in dot peen, scribing and laser technologies. During Southern Manufacturing

& Electronics 2019, the company will showcase its portable e-mark, and integrated e-smart dot peen markers. It will also introduce a modular laser range, claimed to off er the best quality/price ratio on the market and allows precise marking at high speeds. The company’s lasers support

industries that need to be responsive to technological

developments and off er various options which can be added at any time, such as 3D marking or integrated vision system. The international company

develops innovative permanent marking solutions and automated identification for the traceability of industrial components. Today, the company claims to off er the widest and most up-to-date range of products, from standard products to custom solutions. A dedicated supply chain for custom solutions includes a laboratory, design off ice,

production workshop and a project management team, to define the best technical solutions for specific needs and to ensure quality on-time delivery. The sales team will be delighted

to welcome visitors to the booth to test samples and discuss marking projects.

Evaporative coolers increase

wellbeing and productivity

Evaporative cooling is fast becoming the most eff icient option for cooling large areas, says Seeley International. Air conditioning is not a viable option, because in warehouses or industrial plants, the capital and running costs would be extremely prohibitive, says the company. Most industries with high heat

loads, such as printing, ceramics, glass, rubber or electronics, have no cooling system installed, and this impacts on the workers’ morale, productivity, and health. Where businesses have traditional cooling systems installed, they rely on recirculating the air in the indoor space, and that stale air can contain fumes and germs. Evaporative cooling does not use chemical refrigerants to cool the air, just a water pump to supply water to the wetted media where evaporation occurs and electrical power for the fan that pushes the air inside the building. A Derbyshire electronics firm

taking place in the optimal location in terms of cost, lead time and flexibility. It specialises in low to medium volume, higher mix assembly services. Vertically integrated EMS capabilities include plastic injection moulding, plastic thermoforming, tool and mould manufacture, cable and harness assembly, PCBA, final assembly and test and after-market services. It also provides full product design support services and is a full stack IoT provider.

decided to install five of the company’s Breezair evaporative coolers – the inside temperature dropped to more comfortable working conditions of 20°C (from +30°C). “We are glad we discovered an eff icient cooling system... which helped us improve the working conditions inside the plant, reducing running costs at the same time,” said Darren Dooley, production manager at Kingfield. All Breezair models are listed

on The Energy Technology List (ETL), a government list of energy-saving products used by businesses, entitling buyers to claim an enhanced capital allowance.
