Five-axis machine demonstrates aerospace precision

As exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, Mills CNC will showcase the DVF 5000 simultaneous five-axis machine. In a demonstration, a complex, high precision aerospace component will be machined. The compact, rigidly-built machine

provides simultaneous five-axis machining capability. It will be exhibited equipped with a powerful 17.5kW/12,000rpm directly-coupled spindle. A 22kW/18,000rpm built-in spindle option is also available. The machine will be equipped

with a Heidenhain iTNC640 control, although models can also be specified with the latest Fanuc or Siemens controls. Rapid rates of 40m/min can be

achieved on the x-, y- and z-axes. The machine is also equipped with integrated automation provided by a six-position auto-pallet work-changer and a generous servo-driven ATC that can hold up to 120 tools with a 1.3 second tool-to-tool changeover time. Linear guides and an integrated

thermal compensation system mitigate against the eff ects of thermal drift.

Software caters for sheet metals

The UK Libellula Accredited Centre, PW Machine Services, is focused on delivering the best fit for customers’ sheet metal software solutions.

The company off ers a range of CAM software for laser, oxyfuel, waterjet, 3D, plasma, tube

machines and HVAC systems along with 2D and 3D CAD. The software is tightly integrated to support customers at every stage, from cutting to production management. The company will be

showcasing Libellula software at the stand, with demonstrations on Libellula.Wizard and Libellula. CUT (pictured).

Protect data with memory devices

Two new products from Datakey will be shown by Nexus Industrial Memory. The Read-only DFX PC adapter

is the latest addition to the DFX RuggeDrive series of secure digital (SD) memory devices. It works with memory tokens, which are SD cards moulded into the manufacturer’s proprietary token form factor. When plugged into a computer’s USB port, the adapter prevents modifications or deletions to the data stored on the inserted memory token. The company will also be

showcasing the latest addition to the secure memory line, a microchip crypto-authentication IC moulded into a Datakey rugged

removable memory

token (pictured). Security features coupled with

the physical security provided by the specialised connectors make this token ideal for applications such as device authentication/ counterfeit protection, secure firmware updates and crypto ignition keys. There is also a chance to win a rare Nixie Tube clock.

Investment adds machining capacity

Investment in equipment installed at MJ Allen Castings & Machining provides additional capacity for the machining of castings, fabrications and solid materials. The Dugard HD 1886B heavy

duty, box way, vertical machining centre allows for traverse in the x axis of 1,800mm, 860mm (y axis) and 700mm (z axis) with a maximum weight of 2,000kg. The HD 2210B has a traverse of 2,200mm (x axis), 1,000mm (y axis) and 900mm (z axis), with a maximum weight of 3,000kg. Operating foundries alongside

its machine shop in Ashford, Kent, the company provides a one-stop- shop for aluminium, bronze and iron castings, machining, painting and assembly, all ISO certified to 9001, 14001 and 18001.

Coolants are tailor-made for the UK

In the UK, Oemeta UK focuses on adding value to its specialist products through tailor-made solutions which include servicing and equipment. As part of a global business which

has over 100 years‘ experience in the machining coolants industry, it specialises in water-based cooling lubricants and its application expertise has created, reliable products. Its development process leads

to solutions and products that set standards in the metalworking industry as they are tailored to

the production processes of many automotive and metal manufacturing businesses. At this year’s show there will be

customers’ specific requirements. Product inventions such as the two-component cooling fluid and multi-function oils have led to lasting improvements and cost savings in

Don’t compromise, customise

Challenging the way buyers and programmers choose solid carbide cutting tools, Quickgrind has launched the Infinite Possibilities range. Standard ranges of cutting tools

serve a purpose but lead to a compromise that can cost time and money; a bespoke cutting tool allows the user to optimise tools paths and produce highly accurate parts without hurting the bottom line. The company says it off ers customised

tools that will not cost very much more than an off -the-shelf standard tool. There are “infinite options at a standard price”, according to the company. The independent manufacturer

supplies to the aerospace, aircraft, automotive, defence, F1, medical, motorsport, mould and die, oil and gas industries and sub-contractors. It also off ers a remanufacturing service. New tools on display include conical, tangental and lens type

barrel tools, lollipop, high feed and chip breaker trochoidal end mills. Visitors can discuss requirements and aims regarding ways to reduce machining cycle times and getting the most from solid carbide cutting tools.
