Tu ou vous ?
You know that the personal pronouns tu and vous both mean ‘you’ and that they indicate one person or more than one person. There is also a cultural reason for which of these words is used in French.
• Tu is the informal ‘you’. It is generally used to when speaking to a family member, a friend or someone your own age.
• Vous is a more polite ‘you’. It is generally used when speaking to someone you do not know well, such as an adult not in your family or a group of people.
