The tangram is a square that is cut up into 7 regular-shaped pieces. It was invented a long time ago in China. Each piece of the tangram is called a tan. The 7 tans are:
2 large triangles 1 square 1 parallelogram 2 small triangles
Remember: the classic rules when using tangrams to solve puzzles are that all 7 tans must be used, they must lie fl at and they must touch but may not overlap.
1. Use the 7 tangram pieces to make the following shapes. a) square
b) right-angled isosceles triangle 2. Can you form your age using your tangram pieces?
3. Have a go at making these pictures. Remember to use all of your tangram pieces for each picture.
