UEIL’s 60th Annual Congress – Countdown to Stresa! Everything you need to know about the upcoming UEIL Congress taking place in October

Editor’s Desk

As the global lubricants industry gathers for this year’s UEIL Congress, it feels especially timely to reflect on both the challenges and the opportunities shaping our sector. This October issue of Lube Magazine accompanies that journey—travelling with you into the conversations, debates, and innovations that are driving us forward.

One of the central themes this month is automotive heavy-duty diesel engine oils (HDDO). With fleets facing mounting pressures from decarbonisation targets, cost efficiency, and extended drain intervals, the role of HDDO is at the forefront of industry focus. Our features explore the evolving chemistry, formulation advances, and regulatory landscapes that will define the next generation of products keeping trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles moving.

We also turn our attention skywards, with a dedicated look at aerospace lubricants. In a sector where performance and reliability are non-negotiable, innovation in high-temperature stability, materials compatibility, and sustainability is accelerating. Whether supporting the latest jet engines or new frontiers in space exploration, aerospace lubrication demonstrates the precision and ingenuity of our industry at its very best.

And, of course, the UEIL Congress itself stands as an opportunity for collaboration. It is more than a conference; it is where ideas become strategies, where competition gives way to collective vision, and where the future of European lubricants policy and innovation takes shape. We are proud to bring Lube Magazine to this important forum, as the official journal of UEIL, and look forward to the discussions and insights it will inspire.

As ever, I hope this issue informs, inspires, and challenges your thinking. Whether you are reading from the halls of the Congress or your own workplace, you are part of a global community pushing boundaries and shaping the future of lubricants.

Enjoy the issue, and see you at UEIL. Tina Reading, editor@ukla.org.uk
