John has held roles including Senior Product Development Manager, Technical Applications Specialist (Automotive and Industrial Lubricants) and Global Marketing Manager during his time with ICI and Croda. Now in his 35th year in the lubricants industry, John was delighted to be invited to present the work of UEIL’s Sustainability Committee at the Lube Sustainability Conference 2022 (May 25th).
In February, the Environment Working Group: Production and Logistics launched an ‘Company CO2e Value Guideline’ initiative and toolbox, to enable UEIL and non members to calculate their corporate carbon footprint. The toolbox is hosted on the UEIL Sustainability website and the WG would greatly welcome feedback on the toolbox. Meanwhile, the WG continues to prepare a training webinar scheduled for the summer.
The Sustainability Committee is also pleased to report the publication of two new white papers on the sustainability website; ‘Understanding the product carbon footprint of lubricants’ and ‘Circular Economy’.
UEIL Industry Statistics – call for interest in sponsorship of this year’s report! We are delighted to announce that preparation of the new UEIL Industry Statistics Report for 2021 is underway and that the report will be launched at this
year’s UEIL Annual Congress taking place in Athens, Greece from 19-21 October.

The Industry Statistics Summary Report, distributed worldwide to UEIL members and non-members, collects the official UEIL lubricant market figures (automotive and industrial) for European countries and offers an analysis of these figures. You can find out more about our process on the UEIL website.
