EVENTS 2019 Congress attracts a record number of delegates

On 24-26 October, UEIL hosted its annual Congress under the theme ‘Challenges & Opportunities in the fast-changing lubricants industry’. Held in the French city of Cannes, this year’s Congress attracted an unprecedented number of delegates, representing the European lubricants industry and its international partners.

The Congress provided delegates with the opportunity to participate in thematic sessions based on the key issues facing the lubricants sector. Day One contained sessions on artificial intelligence, digital marketing and e-commerce, as well as competence transfer, talent retention, sustainability and circularity. Day Two featured regulatory overviews of the marine and food lubricants markets, sessions on changing standards and test methods as well as the future outlook on the evolving base oil landscape.

“The participation from the audience is what made this conference so stimulating, so exciting. It was anything but boring”.

As the annual event grows in size and stature, UEIL have introduced an increasing number of side-events for delegates to partake in. For many no doubt the highlight came with the Gala Dinner held at the famous Negresco Hotel in Nice. For others, this year was made special with the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of the French Riviera, as the Tourism & Partner Days proved particularly appealing.

Each session included a panel discussion which allowed for audience members to voice their views and question the speakers. In her closing remarks, UEIL President Valentina Serra-Holm thanked the audience

UEIL Secretary General Russell Patten thinks this is the core strength of the Congress “As organisers of the conference, we must appreciate the value of networking. You cannot network in a conference room. So these ‘side-events’ must remain at the core of what we do”.

We would like to thank all the sponsors for making this event possible – ARGUS MEDIA, BRB, CHEVRON, CHEMLUBE, COMERCIAL QUÍMICA MASSÓ, FUCHS, ICIS, IGOL, ILMA, IMCD, KROON-OIL, METALL CHEMIE, PILOT, PUTOLINE OIL, SAFIC-ALCAN, UNIL OPAL, YACCO, ZELLER+GMELIN.

The next UEIL Congress will take place in Athens, Greece on 28-30 October 2020. For more information contact info@ueilcongress.org
