With the help of Active Webdezign and Jagger Creative, SIP recently launched a new website, complete with a registered user area, to showcase its product and service offering. “We strongly believe in the personalised approach to our business” said Kerry. “therefore we wanted to include all the SIP team on the website so people know who they are dealing with and can put a face to the name”.

Externally our business has faced a number of challenges with the continued oversupply of base oil and the 2014 oil crash. The subsequent downturn in the offshore sector had a real impact on our drilling base fluids business and it is our diverse product and application portfolio that enables us to weather the storms that are not uncommon in this volatile industry sector. It also allows us to really understand and identify those partners who are committed to SIP’s success and so on the day of our 30th anniversary dinner, we were delighted to receive a 10 year

customer loyalty award from our storage partner, ADPO N.V.”

SIP’s business is identifying and supplying high performance speciality oils and fluids that allow customers to add value and differentiate their product offering through a tailored and personalised problem solving approach. This has led to a focus on renewable and sustainable products through distribution agreements with Novvi LLC and Nanotech Industrial Solutions, both of which offer performance driven, sustainable solutions to the key industry driver of energy efficiency. These new materials enable blenders to produce premium performance products whilst providing improved total formulation cost, extended product life and increased flexibility to both the user and the formulator.

Sakar Pradhan Young Employee of the Year 2017

We spoke to Sakar Pradhan, Marketing Coordinator at Q8Oils and winner of 2017’s UKLA Young Employee of the Year award, to discuss his thoughts on winning his much deserved decoration.

How has the award impacted you personally and professionally? The award has raised my profile. I’m gaining wider recognition in Q8Oils beyond our UK office and in other parts of Q8. I’ve also been given greater responsibility for brand management and decision- making in my current job. On a personal level, I’m more confident in my role and keener than ever to prove my worth.

Most surprising outcome of being an award winner?

I’ve been surprised how this award has made me more marketable in the industry - I’ve had some unexpected job offers, which is always flattering! The recognition I’m receiving within Q8Oils is less of a surprise, but equally welcome.

Highlights from the year? How have you maximised your time with Q8Oils this year? How will you build on this moving forward?

46 LUBE MAGAZINE NO.146 AUGUST 2018

I’ve always had plenty of ideas about how we can develop the Q8Oils brand and this year I’ve continued to trial new approaches. For example, I’m pushing out more content on the Q8Oils Hub to raise issues and add value for people in the industry.

With Q8Oils’ support, I’ve continued my part-time studies for a Master’s in digital marketing and will complete it next year. Everything I’m learning is relevant to my role and will benefit the business, as well as me personally. To move forward I’ll keep learning about the industry and hope to get better at what I do.

What would you say to next year’s award winner to help them make the most of their year?

Enjoy the recognition! Nominating you for an award shows that your company has trust and respect in you and recognises your potential. Make the most of it by excelling in your job and going that extra mile.
