We have been asked why the Table included in article ‘What is ACEA 2008?’, Lube magazine ISSUE No 98, August 2010 missed out some OEM recommendations.


The list was titled ‘Car OEM main Crankcase Lubricant Recommendations’ and wasn’t intended as an all encompassing listing of every OEM lubricant recommendations.


As was stated at the bottom of the listing in this article – ‘These are typical requirements for models currently being produced in Europe and vary by model, model year, service regime and operating conditions.’

The listing was produced to be a broad based look at what OEMs generally require. The intention was not to contain every possible model variant details. As the listing was broad based there would be certain omissions. Plus, like any listing – OEMs release new models and cease to produce models in different countries at different times throughout Europe, parts of it would almost certainly be out-of- date by the time of publication.


We suggest that Lube Readers who would like to know more on OEM recommended lubricants contact either OATS Ltd www.oats.co.uk or Olyslager Organisation BV www.olyslager.nl. These two organisations provide the lubricant’s industry with this type of information.
