provide food and beverage processors with high performance lubrication and long service life, even under extreme operating conditions such as freezers and cookers. In addition to being manufactured in equipment where cross contamination is minimised, these lubricants are formulated to be nut-, wheat- and gluten free and are suitable under Kosher and Halal dietary law.
Engineered with advanced synthetic base stocks they exhibit outstanding load-carrying properties and low internal friction, helping to reduce energy costs. In proprietary worm gear bench tests, Mobil SHC Cibus demonstrated up to a 3% overall efficiency improvement compared to mineral gear oils. The series also has a high load carrying capability and excellent wear protection, which can help prolong equipment reliability and performance. Plus, with their long term-oxidation stability, anti- rust and anti-corrosion features, they can reduce the potential of unscheduled downtime associated with component replacement, generating significant cost savings.
In proprietary ExxonMobil hydraulic testing these products demonstrated that Mobil SHC Cibus 46 can last up to two times longer than conventional, non-NSF H1 registered mineral based hydraulic oils, while maintaining a high degree of system cleanliness. Long life and clean systems can reduce the costs and risks associated with frequent oil changes and unplanned component failures.
These products are available in viscosities ranging from ISO VG 32 to 68 and 150 to 460.
3. Mobil SHC Pegasus gas engine oil Stuart explained the latest new product offering, a new category of lubricant specifically developed for use in natural gas engines. In this sector, engine designs, operating conditions, customers' needs and environmental factors continue to place high demands on engine oils for natural gas engines. Worldwide projections for future energy supply and demand indicate that oil, coal and natural gas will continue to be the predominant energy sources through 2030.
The power generation industry is seeking options to improve their productivity and support sustainability. In many cases, a well designed lubricant can provide benefits that contribute to sustainability such as extended oil life, reduced oil for disposition, energy efficiency and extended equipment life for power generation applications, including cogeneration and landfill applications.
Mobil Industrial have focused on the next generation natural gas engine oil product developments, utilising cutting edge product technology that provides extended oil life, excellent piston deposit control and increased engine efficiency, potentially reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Mobil Industrial Lubricants conducted a comprehensive research test program, which evaluated oxidation stability, high temperature thermal stability and frictional characteristics. They conducted extensive engine durability test programs, which evaluated the oil life, piston cleanliness and wear performance of gas engine oils in shop and field applications.
Consequently, the development of these next generation natural gas engine oils could significantly enhance the sustainability benefits of natural gas fuelled power generation engines.
The Mobil Industrial Lubricants’ product development process took into account synthetic base oil selection, oxidation stability, low oil consumption, the need to reduce lubricant related maintenance costs by maximising the effective life of the lubricant whilst reducing engine down-time, critical engine parts cleanliness and reduced friction to enable increased engine efficiency, resulting in reduced emissions.
After a lengthy development and field testing programme, Mobil Industrial was successful in developing the Mobil SHC Pegasus gas engine oil, a new product that met all the criteria mentioned above. Significantly, it showed a 1.5% fuel saving advantage, without compromising performance, and provided operators with the opportunity to be even more competitive in the market place, as well as improving their environmental footprint.

Stuart explained that Mobil Industrial continues to provide sophisticated synthetic lubrication products designed to help provide existing and potential customers with options that allow them to improve plant reliability and to benefit from energy efficiency savings, lower costs and improving their own sector competiveness.
ExxonMobil’s significant research resources has allowed Mobil Industrial to create new products to meet customer needs, based on in-house developments that produced breakthrough technologies - including bespoke synthetic fluids. I was left in no doubt by Stuart Milne that Mobil Industrial believe that its ‘top-tier’ synthetic based industrial lubricants that use the latest – and probably unique – base fluids, demonstrate improved energy efficiency and increased productivity, together with assured worldwide availability.

Stuart Milne, 44, is currently Industrial Marketing Manager EAME, for ExxonMobil’s Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company, and is based in Europe.
Stuart joined Mobil Oil Company in 1991 in the Sales organi- sation following an offshore Naval Officer career since BSc graduation. After completing several Sales, Technical Engineering and management roles, Stuart completed a two- year Manager sponsored secondment to the Automotive Industry, working with UK Government and executives from Nissan/Toyota on competiveness within UK supply chain. Since year 2000, he has worked in ExxonMobil’s Lubricants & Specialties, with periods as Industrial Strategic Account Manager Europe and as Senior Change Manager for Europe, during major CRM computer system commissioning. He assumed his current position as Industrial Marketing Manager, EAME in May 2007.
